Kore/Persephone returning from the Underworld with Hermes & Alice falling down the rabbit hole to the inner-Earth land of Wonderland
To say that mystical experiences were a part of me only from my dark night of the soul and on would be a lie, as from a tender age magic had always been with me. But to keep things short, I wanted to write about the formative experiences that made me who I am from sixteen and on. It was a few years ago, during the process of moving to another city, where I was engulfed in a level of trauma from all sides and descended underground (strangely, a few weeks short of that, I threw a farewell party dressed up as Alice, jumping on a trampoline with Miguel and Gabriel).
If you know and have been through the nigredo cleansing phase, you’ll know. A million veils of your vision being shed and your world as you know it falling apart (a few years before COVID though!). Like a volcano with lava burning, fires silently moving. Feeling your own Heart like never before, the ultimate pain and the ultimate ecstasy. Two sides of one coin.
Three years after that I found someone whose experience gave me clarity on my own, as we had gone through the similar abismal loneliness and the undressing of the cloth of old consciousness. Through this older sister, Juliana, many gifts and remembrances, such as alchemy & hermeticism and the myth of Kore/Persephone were revived. One of such ways being through Projeto Kor-e, an online platform launched to practise vulnerability and empathetic listening, aiming at vulnerability, loneliness and awakening the human Heart.
At the same time all along I had SwΓ‘Sthya yoga classes, and with it through the years discovered an arsenal of millenary knowledge on hinduism and traditions of the Dravidian peoples, whose customs were matriarchal, sensorial, and derepressive. Upon studying, remembrances were felt, as well as connections and associations to other philosophies, all roots from the same Rose.
Through my way and research I also found old sisters who helped me Remember my origins at a distance. Two of them, Achintya and Ameya, whose free workshops brought me comfort and wisdom (as well as Ameya’s flower potions), I still wait through the years to join in a program. And of course Gigi Young, whose work I watched grow since 2017 and have been a faithful student of, participating on the online club and discussion forums, and taking up courses such as the Inner Mystic series modules I & VI and Deepening Intuition I & II.
To be psychic and to commune with the subtle realms, utilising intuition and emotion, is part of being a woman and it is an intrinsic part of being me. I am slowly reclaiming this power, my voice and my bravery again. Rising from my silence and from my tomb. If you call that a witch, I’ll be sure to give a wink.
